Introducing the Newest Cannabis Strain from Indiva – The Famous White Russian

There are a lot of choices when it comes to the wide world of cannabis strains. Of all the varieties that come and go, there are a few strains that remain more popular than others, and fewer still that have stood the test of time better than the legendary White Russian.

Created by famous Dutch breeders Serious Seeds and named after the Dude’s (Jeff Bridges) favourite alcoholic drink in the cult classic movie The Big Lebowski, White Russian boasts genetics inherited from two other strains of ‘cannabis royalty’ – White Widow and AK-47. This lineage ensured that White Russian would be an epic strain in terms of potency and ‘smoke-ability’ and it did not disappoint. In fact, the strain was so good that it won 1st place in the ‘Best Overall’ category at the 1996 High Times Cannabis Cup, and was for many years considered to be the strongest strain around, regularly exhibiting THC percentages ranging from 20-25%.

White Russian is an F1 Hybrid, meaning that two different strains (White Widow & AK-47) were bred to create a new hybrid seed – the White Russian. The new hybrid presented itself as a very homogenous mix of its parents and has been very successful in being able to achieve repeated results for cultivators.

It’s typically a balanced, Indica leaning hybrid, that produces small to medium size buds. White Russian is usually on the paler side of green and is thoroughly frosted with trichomes like its White Widow parent. Once cured, the strain has the dank earthy and skunky aroma of White Widow laced with undertones of sweet citrus fruits and florals common to its other parent, AK-47.

Typical Dominant Terpenes found in White Russian:

Alpha-Pinene, Beta-Myrcene, Linalool, Caryophyllene, Nerolidol, Limonene, Beta-Pinene, Humulene

(Actual terpene content may vary in each individual sample of this strain)

About the parents of White Russian

White Widow

White Widow is a balanced hybrid strain which was first bred by Green House Seeds in the Netherlands. It’s a cross breed of a Brazilian Haze landrace Sativa and a South Indian Indica known for heavy resin production. This balanced hybrid is famous for its trichome coated buds and potent THC concentrations.

Typical Dominant Terpenes found in White Widow:

Limonene, Myrcene, Caryophyllene, Humulene, Trans-nerolidol, Guaiol

(Actual terpene content may vary in each individual sample of this strain)

AK-47

AK-47 is the strain that put Serious Seeds on the map back in 1992 and quickly amassed multiple Cannabis Cup awards for its ‘through the roof’ THC content. It’s a skunky and resinous Sativa-dominant hybrid that merges Colombian, Mexican, Afghani, and Thai strains into a sour, earthy and floral flavoured hybrid powerhouse.

Typical Dominant terpenes found in AK-47:

Myrcene, Caryophyllene, D-Alpha-Pinene, Alpha-Pinene, D-Limonene, Beta-Pinene, Nerolidol 2.
